Hey guys, I haven't been posting much, have I?
Rather than sitting here apologizing for my absence, how about a quick and simple tutorial?
(Note: this only works for cameras with a pop-up flash, and flashes that have an opening in the stock.)
If you have a camera with a pop-up flash, chances are you've ran into trouble with it. Blown out highlights and even shadow are common problems with many pop-up flashes, even in the best SLR cameras.
To get around this issue, you can buy an external flash and/or a flash diffuser, or you can make a cheap and quick remedy with household items.
You need a plain white 3"x5" index card (and maybe some scotch tape).
First, fold the corners of the 3" side in (like your making a paper airplane).
Then fold them over so that the unfolded side sticks up.
Next, insert the folded paper into the stock of your flash.
The index card should stick up like so.
If you're having trouble, you may need to tamper with the fold or use a little scotch tape to tape it down.
Voila, you have a DIY bounce flash.
See the difference?

In portraits, a bounce flash evens highlights, dulls shadow, and works better to detract attention from things like stubble and/or acne.

Now, instead of getting a direct flash, your flash will bounce off the index card to the ceiling, where it will fall over your subject.
(For best results, use indoors and shoot where the ceiling is a white or beige color.)
Can't get yours to work? Can't understand my language? Leave a comment, I am happy to answer questions. :)))
